A String of Pearls
various

This book of the Faith-Promoting Series is a favorite of many who have become familiar with it.

The first one-third of the book is an account of an emigrant who lived with the Ponca Indians (he looked upon his experience as his "Indian Mission") and referred to various hardships and his increased faith through his experiences.

Other accounts include Jedediah M. Grant's (a future member of the Church's First Presidency) missionary experiences; President John Taylor's journey across the plains and an unusual prophecy of John Taylor and the beginning of missionary work in Ireland; and experiences of Matthias Cowley, David W. Patten and several others.
